Great Brazilian Barbeque Restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area

Brazilian barbeque restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The San Francisco Bay Area is known for restaurants of different cultures and one of the newest in our region is the Brazilian steakhouse. Churrasco is a tradition in Brazil where the gauchos would get together at the end of the day and slowly roast meat over a fire. They would talk about their adventures during the day while the meat roasted.

One of the first restaurants to open in the San Francisco Bay Area was Espetus Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse which opened in 2008. This restaurant is at 1686 Market Street in San Francisco. This restaurant charges an all you can eat fee. You control when dishes are served by a card that you can hold up with a green side when you want to be served and a red side when you want to wait. Servers circulate throughout the restaurant with various dishes of meat, salads, side dishes and deserts. The restaurant offers 12 different varieties of meats and fish daily. Espetus has opened a second location in San Mateo at 710 South B Street. Both restaurants have a private dining room that can be used for private parties.

Another Brazilian Steakhouse is Cleo's Brazilian Steakhouse at 441 El Camino Real, San Bruno, California. This restaurant has a one price fits all buffet style spread while the meats are brought to your table by the waiters. The atmosphere is very family oriented and on Saturday the restaurant features live music.

A fairly new churrasco restaurant in Richmond is the Pikanya Brazilian Steakhouse at 25 West Richmond Avenue in Richmond, California. This restaurant also serves food in a buffet style except the meats which are brought to your table by the waiters. The pricing is a one price for all starting at about $19 for dinner during the week and about $22 for dinner during the weekends. They also have a lunch menu on Monday-Friday for a little less.

In San Jose, California you can find the Macieo Brazilian Steakhouse at 72 South First Street. This restaurant also serves in a buffet style service with waiters or gauchos bringing your freshly cooked meats to your table. They are open Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10 pm and on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 12 am. This restaurant does not serve lunch.

In Palo Alto, California the Pampas Brazilian Steakhouse is located at 529 Alma Street. This restaurant features Brazilian meats served by gauchos and a side bar with other dishes for your meal. They are open for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant enjoys families and has a kid's menu.

Brazilian steakhouses are an up and coming restaurant idea in the Bay Area. As someone of Portuguese descent, I say it is about time. Who can resist being served by gauchos?
