There are many fun things to do in San Francisco, California in November without you or your family missing the various holiday events and activities.

Peace Pagoda-Japantown

Travel today, for some, may be more than going on a vacation. There are those who are possibly relocating because of a new job. Others may be taking that last trip with their son or daughter as they enter college, far away from home, or even visiting them during the holidays. Many save their vacation time to go visit family or friends during the holiday season. California is one of the favorite places to visit. For whatever reason that you may be traveling, there are fun things to do in San Francisco, California, in November.

One of the popular towns in many large tourist areas is Chinatown. However, San Francisco has something unique to offer, which is an interesting area that has been growing since 1860 called “Japantown.” This is an area that is full of shopping. There are numerous boutiques, as well as being the perfect place for those seeking electronics. If you want to try authentic Japanese cuisine, Japantown is the perfect spot. Japantown is full of history, Japanese temples. Two of the most popular, and must see spots are the Peace Pagoda and Japanese Gate which is a Japanese mountain temple gate, built in 1976 as the symbolic entrance to the Buchanan Mall, which is now known as the Osaka Way. This area, a photographers delight consists of a picturesque pedestrian street paved with cobblestones and bordered by houses built in Japanese style.

Charitable Events-Activities

If you are feeling charitable, and enjoy running in marathons, you will certainly want to participate in some of the special marathon events in San Francisco.

  • Fighting Cancer

U.S. Half Marathon is a run across the infamous Golden Gate bridge. The proceeds go to St. Jude's Research Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer.

  • Holiday Toy Drive

"Run Wild For A Child" is much more than a marathon. Runners, as well as spectators can help support the San Francisco Firefighters' Toy Drive. Bring a new toy to donate or run dressed as a toy to compete in the costume contest. Runners can participate in the 5K or 10K race.

When visiting San Francisco, Calfornia in November, it is not impossible to include a trip to Disneyland in San Diego. The driving time between San Diego and San Francisco is approximately 6-7 hours. However, with some careful travel planning, you will find travel packages that include both San Francisco and San Diego.
